Life’s a Game

As she looks away,

I step out of the bar and

into the glare of the sun.

I look up at the sky and

the sun is hot and scorching.

A few small wispy clouds approach

and the sun’s rays quickly wane.

The sky is now not as bright.

The clouds drift away

and the sun lights

the sky with its brightness.

As more clouds appear,

the cycle of the sun

disappearing wistfully

and reappearing gleefully

happens again and again.

It’s a game between

the sun and the clouds.

I walk back into the bar

and look directly into

her gleaming green eyes.

She holds my stare for a long while

and then turns away.

We too are playing our game.
