Bullets of Rain

The grey clouds gather for the feast

the sky’s windows bursting wide

sheets of rain start falling

Not water droplets trickling down

Bullets discharging downward

I wake up from a dreamless sleep

with aches and pains

anxiety bursting from my veins

layers of heaviness on my chest

laboured breathing

distant wails from my mind

then a solitary howl

Melancholia, Melancholia

Now growing into sheets of heaviness

like a ticking bomb waiting to explode

The rain ceases

the breathing commences

the clouds retreat

the cries fade away

the howl disappears

The sun comes out

the pin is safely replaced.
